3. Approval

The approval stage is significant in ensuring the relevance and legitimacy of the national ecosystem assessment process.

In this stage, stakeholders, in particular the government, accept the technical report and approve the summary for policymakers. This helps to secure their buy-in to the final outputs and increases the likelihood of the key messages being used to inform decision-making processes.
