Join us for the global presentation of Ethiopia’s national ecosystem assessment, highlighting key findings, reflecting on opportunities and challenges brought by this process and celebrating its impact in capacity building and support to decision-making.

Ethiopia launched its national ecosystem assessment in April 2022. The process brought together authors and stakeholders including government representatives, academia, NGOs, indigenous peoples and local communities. Ethiopia’s assessment process began in 2017 and focused on 5 broad ecosystems which support a large number of endemic and unique animal and plant species. It highlighted the important role of the indigenous and local knowledge (ILK) system, especially in association with agrobiodiversity conservation.
