Three videos on how sea people contribute to the conservation and management of coastal resources in Thailand (EN/TH)

  • Resource

Thailand launched its National Ecosystem Assessment in 2021 and developed a dedicated working group on Indigenous and local knowledge. The assessment focuses on marine and coastal ecosystems. The assessment team is working with coastal Indigenous and local knowledge holders to ensure the assessment is informed by all available knowledge.

The Thailand National Ecosystem Assessment team developed three videos based on the field activities organised in 2022 to showcase how sea people contribute to the conservation and management of coastal resources. Click the link below to access the video:

  1. Thailand National Ecosystem Assessment and Indigenous and local knowledge – highlights the role of Indigenous and Local Knowledge in Thailand National Ecosystem Assessment
  2. Indigenous and local knowledge, sea people (Chao Lay) and ecosystem assessment – illustrates how Chao Lay people could contribute to the ecosystem assessment
  3. Indigenous and local knowledge, traditions and rituals – explores Chao Lay’s culture, customs and rituals on how they contribute to the management of fishery resources

The videos are also available in Thai language, here.
